Choosing the right counsellor is a deeply personal decision, and there are several reasons why working with me, Ian, can make a meaningful difference in your journey toward personal growth and healing. My aim is to create a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment where you feel heard, respected, and valued. This trust is essential for the therapeutic process to unfold naturally and for meaningful progress to be made. My counselling approach is also strengths-based. While we will explore the difficulties or challenges you may be facing, I place significant emphasis on your existing strengths. You already have inner resources, and my goal is to help you tap into them, building on what is already within you. By focusing on both areas of struggle and areas of resilience, I help you create a more balanced perspective of your experiences, facilitating deeper personal growth and empowering you to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. Additionally, I integrate a variety of therapeutic techniques and skills, ensuring that the methods we use are well-suited to your specific needs. While the core of my approach remains person-centred, I introduce new tools and strategies that can be practically applied in your daily life. Whether it's coping mechanisms for anxiety, communication strategies, or ways to manage stress, the resources I provide are aimed at enhancing your overall wellbeing. Lastly, my goal as your counsellor is to not only support you during our sessions but to also equip you with the tools and insights you need to maintain long-term emotional and mental health.
